Casa Noble Tequila- blanco, reposado, anejo, (episode 64) tequila review

Just as Casa Noble calls their fine tequila “The One”, this episode is completely worthy of being named THE ONE NOT TO MISS!  Lippy welcomes special guest, David YanMarketing Director for Casa Noble Mexico.  The two of them break down the flavors, history, and creation process for just about EVERY Casa Noble product ever made!

Watch in rapt attention as Th’ Lip puts his treasure bottles on display and methodically opens each one to compare it to the current line of Casa Noble products.  How does the current stuff rate?  Is there a “future treasure bottle” in the current product line?  Will Lippy keep his palate “straight” after so many tastes?  An epic tequila line deserves some epic time to break it all down.  And this episode IS an epic 2 HOURS! Not a speck of filler, though.  Enjoy and sip along!

TEQUILA Details:

BRAND: CASA NOBLE

NOM: 1137

AGAVE SOURCE: LOWLANDS

GENERAL TASTING NOTES:

Forgive a bit of weepy nostalgia here, because Casa Noble was Lippy’s very FIRST gourmet tequila purchase as a neophyte tequila-fan!  The flavor profile has changed over the life of this brand (approx. 15 years) but in a way that has amplified and fine-tuned many of the flavors that were present right from the start.

In the current line of products, look for hints of smoke, grass, pepper, mango, and a full flourish of juicy agave.  Casa Noble Crystal (blanco) has always had a very singular taste, and the current product has the vegetal and somewhat bitter core of this flavor turned way up “in the mix”.  Lippy’s favorite age in the current line is the Reposado.   Aged a full 364 days in French white oak barrels, the repo features a magnificent nose of vanilla and sweet grass.  The flavor is at once loud, complicated, and rich.  Look for notes of chocolate and citrus in addition to a “fudgy vanilla”.  The Anejo takes a lot of the repo’s flavor notes and turns down their volume, while adding a lot of other complex flavor notes to the mix.  You get a more subtle mélange of earth, fruit, spices and mostly deep, rich unsweetened chocolate (yum!)  Buy all three ages and spend a few months deciding your future as you sip through them all.  Enjoy “The One”!
