GENERAL TASTING NOTES:
KAH starts out with a sweet spicy take on a traditional lowlands blanco taste profile. You’ll sniff anise and musty lemon on the nose – then move on to a nicely cooked agave gift on the mid-palate. Though the mouth feel and flavor “footprint” feels a bit thin, in general this is a solid blanco. The reposado brings a lot of alcohol heat with its custom, 110-Proof alcohol kick. Only the repo is over-proofed (the other ages are locked in at the standard 80-proof). To try and balance the high alcohol cloud (and its numbing effects) the KAH repo features a heavily wooded sweet tang . This makes the repo a great cocktail mixer, but a difficult sipper as the alcohol overpowers all other flavors. Use it as a party conversation piece, but make sure to pour it sparingly and only AFTER having tasted the more subtle offerings at your bar. KAH’s real promise is fulfilled in their exquisite anejo. Though the “flavor footprint” remains a bit compressed, there is a lot of interest, complexity and balance offered in this anejo. Strains of vegetal “umami” and mushroom are paired with some dialed-back citrus. This one’s a keeper folks! Guess you’d better buy all three ages of KAH because the bottles are so damned beautiful as a set. SalUd!

I also had the opportunity to try KAH tonight. The bottles are amazing! I agree with you that the reposado’s alcohol heat is hard to sip on, which is unfortunate for those of us who prefer our tequila neat. I found both of them hard to drink neat. I chose something different to sip on. I hope I can get an empty bottle to display. Thanks for the review, as always.

Had the Repo on a hunting trip to northern Minnesota… it was a real treat. The skull is guarding the mantel at the Deer Shack to keep the spirits at bay. Picked up the Anejo for New Years celebration. Really good stuff folks… Gonna have to locate the Extra Anejo partially for the taste and also for the great bottle. I plan on making this a permanent addition to my bar…something to keep Johnny Blue company during the night…hmmm Blue Agave, Johnny Blue Scotch…??? Coincidence…? I think not

I have got to say, many of your reviews have led me down the path to new and lovely tequilas. I beg to differ on the Kah Repo, however. The burn is intense, yes, but by no means overwhelms the other flavors, which I have found to be beautifully balanced. Keep up the great work! I look forward to future discoveries.
